THE COUNT

PREPARING FOR THE COUNT

At the shift change, the “COUNT” takes place where the incoming and outgoing pit bosses count each table game individually and file the total on opener and closer slips.

The games are temporarily halted while the two pit bosses carefully count each denomination of cheques in the bankroll. To facilitate this counting procedure and decrease the “down time” of the games, the floor-person makes sure that the bankrolls are easy to read.

As the pit bosses approach the table, the game should be stopped. The dealer clearly marks out each stack before they arrive at the table.

As the games are counted, start the game as soon as possible.  Remember, however, not to drop the new shift opener into the outgoing drop box. The drop boxes are removed after the count. When the new box is placed on the game that is when you would drop the new information for the new shift.

The paperwork will sit under the paddle that is laid across the drop slot. Any new cash would be placed into the folded opener slip under the paddle, until the box has been changed. Make sure that the dealer does not drop until the box has been changed.
